Julian Kennedy Race Pace Baltimore Started at Race Pace in 1995 UBI Institute 2006 (Steel Frame Building), Mercedes Benz Mechanic
What got you into cycling? My Father was a cyclist, we grew up riding in my family. My Dad used to stop by Alex's Woodlawn store on his bicycle commute to Law school. I have worked in the bike industry half of my life. My father taught me a lot about bike repair and maintenance, he had worked in a bike shop when he was younger and has always loved cycling. Mechanics intuition, problem solving and experience have been the bulk of my bicycle service training. I worked as a Mercedes Benz technician for a while, but returned to bicycles for the beauty and simplicity.
What is your favorite bicycle part/product? Ortlieb Velocity waterproof backpack.
What do you enjoy doing outside of cycling? When I'm not too busy with housework, I love to hike with my wife and dog.
What do you love most about riding in the Baltimore area? In the surrounding area we have the choice of many great parks and trails, or secluded country roads with beautiful country side. Also traffic is not so bad, and people are getting used to seeing bicycle commuters.
What is one change you would make to make the Baltimore area more cycling friendly? I would love to see bike boxes at the front of intersections, and sensors of buttons so cyclists can trip the traffic signals.
