Kevin Dolan Race Pace Columbia began at Race Pace in 1983 Sales Trek Level 2 Fit Certification, USAT Triathlon Coach, Team in Training Triathlon Coach, USAT All American Honorable Mention 2006
What got me into cycling? I ran track and cross country in in college and became interested in this new sport called triathlon. I did some races at Towson State University called the Towson Enduro. My first open water Triathlon was the Oxford Triathlon in Easton, MD, where I met several people who had competed in the Ironman in Hawaii. In 1983, I had the choice to race the Niece Triathlon World Championships or the Hawaii Ironman Worlds. I chose the trip to Europe. My running friends in College also told me about cyclocross and felt it fit my racing style. I have participated in cyclo cross since the early 1990's
What is your favorite bicycle part/product? My favorite bike is the cyclo cross bike, which I am currently racing in the masters categores. I can ride on the road and on trails, including in Avalon, chasing mountain bikers. If I need to tour I can set up racks and panniers and go.
What do you enjoy doing outside of cycling? I like reading about history. I'm especially interest in European history from the mid 1700's through World War II.
What do you love most about riding in the Baltimore area? We can experience every terrain and season the U.S. offers, from flat coastal riding on the Eastern Shore to the mountains of Western Maryland. We also have easy access into the country for rural road rides. I enjoy being able to ride to and through historic sites such the Gettysburg battlefield.
What is your most memorable experience involving a bicycle? I have had many memories of great cycling trips: seeing the Tour de France, riding the Road to the Sun in Glacier National Park, Montana, but my favorite experience was my first trip to Ireland, where I cycled to my grandparent's farm house, and was able to meet my family.
