I love this bike. It rides very smoothly. I have 2 full knee replacements and this is the first bike I could still pedal going up hill. This bike would prefer pavement, although it still rides smooth off roads it preforms much better on paved surfaces.

Great entry level bike. Very versatile. Can ride on the road, in parks and some off the road. This bike hooked me in cycling, so I am considering getting a road bike, too. But I'll also keep this one for its versatility.

This is a great little bike for the price, Once again Trek has not let me down! I bought this bike for commuting 24 miles round trip to work/school, and the ride/shifting is as good as my road bike I paid three times as much for. This bike is not just fun for cycling with the kids, but also great for picking up groceries. Another great thing is that this color stands out nicely in a rack full of bikes:)

This bike is the sweet spot for me. I generally use it for exercise and recreation and it is fantastic for both. Recently I started commuting to work from time to time and it's really proven itself. My work ride is 10 miles one way and the bike is comfortable the entire ride. It's also sturdy and smooth. This is a diverse bike at a great price.

          Comments:

I ride this bike everyday practically, at night, in rain, and heavy winds throughout the steep slopes of San Francisco. Its been a great bike and has hauled many of my groceries and parcels on the rack I had installed at the store that I have needed to carry that my messenger bag wouldn't hold. I take care of it, but not the best of maintenance and its been dropped a few times, but still it's in great shape. Cons: The seat is probably the worst on any bike I have ridden on. As soon as you can, get a better one ESPECIALLY if you plan to ride more than a few miles. As a side note the seat it comes with is very durable though. It is also rather heavy, I had a Specialized Hardrock Comp Mountain Bike before this bike and the weight difference is marginal at best. Carrying it up stairs is something I avoid where possible, but taking BART and walking up staircases with this bike is grueling. If you have a longer than normal U-lock (like a Kryptonite) it barely fits inside the frame attached below the seat post. I couldn't find a better place since the other two options would either block the brake/shifting cables or attach near where a water bottle could be mounted, which would work if the U-lock didn't swivel with every turn. Pros: Everything else practically since it shifts well, handles well, the frame is tough as well as durable, and the brakes can handle just about everything except for the steepest of hills in San Francisco (Filbert and 22nd Streets). Overall this is a great bike and have had a blast flying by those department store bicycles! Its hard to beat the price point of this bike and with a few equipment adjustments it is a great bike to ride everyday or just to stay in shape.

This was an impulse buy.I saw the new green color at dealer and I had to have it!To be honest,if i would of had more in my impulse account, I probally would have bought a"higher" model of the fx line.really thankful i didn't! it's fun to ride.Shifts are crisp.Brakes working fine. It's light, not crazy light but coming from a TREK mountain bike it is light, responsive and handles well.yea,it probally could have higher end parts, but for the price it is cool.A seat quick clamp would have been nice, but whatever.I'm the only one that rides it.If you are riding in a pack and dressing in spandex then this bike may be to tame but for regular people its great.I have had it 2 weeks and do anywhere from 10-30 miles at a time and i LOVE it.
